History

Reykjavík Law Firm is a full service law firm and one of the largest Law Firm in Iceland.

Reykjavik Law Firm established in the year 1982 and merged in June 1998 with Lawyers, Laugavegi 97, Reykjavík.
In May 1999 the vice director of the Internal Revenue in Iceland, Guðrún Helga Brynleifsdóttir, Attorney to the Supreme Court, became a partner in the firm and Steinar Thor Gudgeirsson, Attorney to the Supreme Court joined the partners group of Reykjavík Law firm in the year 2001. 
In January 2002 the firm moved to Vegmúli 2, Reykjavík and merged with Lawyers Seltjarnarnesi.

, Attorney to the Supreme Court became partner in July 2006. 

In July 2007 the firm moved to a new office building in Borgartún 25, 2nd floor, Reykjavík and Vilhjálmur Hans Vilhjálmsson, Attorney at law became partner.  1st of April Ástríður Gísladóttir joined as partner at Reykjavík Law Firm and in February 2009 Guðni Bergsson joined the partners group.

The firm consists of ten partners.

Astridur sat on the Board of the Icelandic Bar Association from 2006 to 2008. Foreign languages: English, Spanish, Danish.

Guðni Bergsson, Attorney at Law.


Guðrún H. Brynleifsdóttir, Supreme Court Attorney since 2006 and economist, educated in Sweden as well as in Iceland. Guðrún is a former deputy director of the Internal Revenue Service and has vast experience in all fields of tax law, international private law, contract law and family law. Foreign languages:  Swedish and English.

 

Jóhannes Albert Sævarsson.  The law of torts, administrative law, human rights and litigation are among Johannes’s practice areas.  Supreme Court Attorney since 1999. Jóhannes sits on the Board of the Icelandic Bar Association. Foreign languages: English, Italian and Faroes.

Ólafur Garðarsson, whose areas of expertise include mergers and acquisitions, corporate law, sports law including the FIFA and UEFA rules and telecommunications law, Supreme Court Attorney since 1992. Foreign languages: English, German and Danish. 

 

Steinar Þór Guðgeirsson  Supreme Court Attorney since 2004.  Steinar´s areas of expertise include sport law, UEFA/FIFA statutes and regulations, competition law, property law, bankruptcy law, bank law, company law, joint ventures, due diligence reports and family law. Chairman of the Resolution Committee of Kauthing bank hf., Chairman of Fram Football Club. Foreign languages: English and Danish.

 

Sveinn Andri Sveinsson, a Supreme Court Attorney since 1999. Sveinn specialises in criminal law, bankruptcy law, commercial contracts, and the law of torts and family law. Foreign languages: English, Dutch and Danish.

 

Tómas Jónsson, LL.M from London University and a Supreme Court Attorney since 1997. Tomas main practice areas have been joint ventures, information technology and telecommunications law, intellectual property law, company law, competition law, construction law and public procurement rules. Foreign languages: English and Danish.


Vilhjálmur Hans Vilhjálmsson. Corporate law, competition law, law of torts, administrative law, property law, intellectual property law, EU-law and litigation are among his practice areas. Attorney at Law since 2002. Foreign languages: English, Danish and Italian.
